s'il vous plaît et merci

finding it increasingly difficult NOT to get ahead of myself with the excitement for davey♥
considering cheese fries for lunch despite my "cleanse" talk of a fortnight passed

in light of my new jewellery line, i have been spending alot more time than usual scanning blogs and the streets for inspiration. this inspiration resulted in me reworking one of the ranges for davey♥, and i say that with a happy heart, because i am now far happier with it and the way it gels with the rest of the pieces. i never knew that my second sabbatical would result in anopther business venture, but i couldn't be happier. next week is supply shopping(thank you end of the month!)and i am so thrilled to get dying yarns and buying trimmings and spending hours with my grandmother's thimble (my humble inheritance) and a full worktable in front of me. as i get the sample pieces done and dusted, i will post item photos for you all to get an ideaof what to expect from the photo shoot. which is another thing i need to plan...oh durban skies grace me with beautiful outdoor light for my garden and lunch photoshoot at st.clements nursery and outdoor cafe!

after all that typing i'm now listening to fat freddy's drop

i had promised some of my personal style...but with my camera battery being dead...and me forgetting to sort it out, i am going to push my "personal style week posted" by a week, and instead offer you some street chic images. do enjoy!

and finally, i love these burberry shoes.

so, til next time then (my cheese fries are a-calling!)

ciao miei belle!

i ♥ alexa chung

listening to chillin' by wale and lady gaga
thinking of what to wear with my high waisted cheap monday jeans

if you've seen this blue-eyed girl's killer personal style, you'd probably dedicate an entire post to her as well. gracing the cover of vogue's march 2010 edition, alexa was voted in vogue's 20 best dressed for 2009. with her gorgeous features and quirky dress sense it's no wonder why she's fashion's favourite girl.

the brit born mtv star has become a style sensation with her unique ensembles...and as seen in NYLON's fashion feature, alexa showed madewell by alexa chung at fashion week in new york. need more reason to love her?

with jewellery designs in mind, i have to dash off and put pen to paper before i forget these!

adieu mes cheries

i promised you more

listening to an unknown, but catchy song on an advert
feeling nostalgic

earlier i promised to spill the beans on what's new...so let me introduce you all to the railroad jean. what is the railroad jean you ask? they're the sort of casual, i jus rolled out of bed but still look amazing type of denim that plans on sticking to this season's hot list.

the railroad jean is based on utility pants from the 20's and 30's, has a slouchy, pleated front, with cropped ankles, room at the thighs, and has a fine pinstripe or ridge woven into the fabric.

this one's tricky, and i'm yet to try them out myself...but am thinking of pairing a light wash railroad, with a peach gap t shirt ( to match the gap brand pleated railroad jeans above), and some pumps...will keep you posted.

**thank you shop gap online for the image**

crafting for glitter♥cupcake

in my excitement, i decided to run a giveaway of sorts for davey♥ accessories, with the 100th member to join the group receiving a 20% off voucher to use at the high tea and sale at the end of next month. because of this, i am literally checking the group every few minutes, am jus saw the count change from 97 to...wait for it...98! am really so pleased with the positive response, and jus hoping that the feedback and support keeps rolling in. it's really such a boost knowing that people are interested in my line.

as you read above, i am busy crafting for glitter♥cupcake, jus finished off two of the sample embellished brooches, and getting started on the headbands. tomorrow is necklace day and next week is crochet week!

because i have realised that i am only human, and life happens while we're busy making other plans (grazie john lennon), i have pushed the dates of thelaunch and high tea sale by two weeks. i promise this will not be postponed any further and that the postponement was purely so that i can breathe and get some sleep, and look fab for the launch and photos!

i promised more on the NYLON february fashion feature, and coming up this afternoon you will get a bit more of new york fashion week, railroad jeans in what's new...as well as a how and where to get those looks locally. (a brand new segment i realised we need as most posts are based on interenational fashion).

until then, i leave you all with this from john lennon...

"you say you're not getting enough, that i remind you of all that bad stuff, well tell me what am i supposed to do? i jus put a band-aid on it and stop the bleeding now, stop the bleeding now"
i'm losing you

ciao♥

NYLON's marc by marc jacob's february fashion feature

listening to jamie cullum's amazing jazz cover of please don't stop the music
staring at the rare cloud-covered durban sky
planning a brunch-time menu while sipping on my morning green tea

i've said before how i love NYLON's online magazine and the amzing features it always delivers. so my decision to share the february fashion feature from the magazine should come as no surprise. february graces us with new york fashion week, and NYLON brings us all the happenings from the frontlines!

i adore marc jacobs, especially his gorgeous perfume lola, which is sort of like daisy's older, vampy-er sister.with sparkling fruity top notes of pink peppercorn, pear and ruby grapefruit, ultra feminine heart notes with rose, geranium, and fuschia peony, and warm and seductive base notes of vanilla, creamy musk and warm tonka bean. what's not to love?

apart from his frangrances, his marc by marc jacobs line, and his fall 2010 collection shown at fashion week-and featured in NYLON is really quite something. marc jacobs knows exactly how to deliver for the casual cool clan, from striped sweater dresses to cinched metallic cocktail frocks and quirks as only he can. the fall range does not disappoint. i assure you. don't believe me? well, then. see for yourself.

p.s: had i seen that white lace dress, i would've dreamt of that for valentine's day!

i promise to deliver more from bryant park later on today...my brunch-time hunger pangs are clearly getting the better of me!

davey♥accessories

listening to gravity byjohn mayer
sketching up a storm

if you're on facebook, please do take the time to join the group davey♥ accessories.

davey♥ houses three accessory lines, namely davey♥ timeless, glitter♥cupcake and oh♥boho. each line finds it's basis in my own love for accessories, and the simple way you can re-create your look with a different piece, and traces along this basis with slight difference.

davey♥ timeless will consist of a few delicate gold pieces, a long pendant chain, as well as a charm bracelet, towhich you can add on in each new season. davey♥ timeless is as it's name describes, a classic range of staple items that i hope to expand with gold bands and bangles.

glitter♥cupcake is a range of bib necklaces, bracelets, brooches and hair accessories, inspired in it's first season by the frangipani flower. here, you will find darling motifs in dove grey and cream crochet and ribbon, with surprise bursts of bubblegum pink, lace and gold chain. glitter♥ cupcake is a range of soft, floral inspired accessories targeted at a more feminine, preppy look.

oh♥boho's first range is inspired by a stylised peacock feather, and features necklaces, bracelets, strand headbands and a range of stencilled brooches, stacking rings and belts. expect to find leather, ribbon and crochet inserts with perspex and gold quirks. with it's name and the materials listed, it's easy to tell that oh♥boho is a more bohemian range that encourages layering and confident mix and match.

davey♥ accessories first range launches at high tea and sale on the last sunday of march 2010.

davey♥ accessories photos of the first range (available for viewing and sale at the high tea) will be up mid march 2010.

just to keep you all up-to-date, the gorgeous, fresh face you see here, is my dear friend laila baderoon who will be gracing davey♥ as the first face! when looking for a model, she was the first (and only) person that came to mind,a beautiful, funny girl that epitomises boho chic. so excited to working with her for davey♥

more info and photos coming soon!

the vampire diaries (yes, i am a HUGE fan)

listening to the cars whizzing by on musgrave road
having a little snack of fresh pomegranate rubies, orange juice and good old aqcua

anyone who's been watching tv here in south africa (and wordlwide for that matter) will by now have heard of, or watched at least an episode of the CW's vampire diaries. screened in south africa on channel 123 on DSTV on monday nights at 8:30 watching the first episode for me got a little tricky with the clash between it, and my mum's favourite drama. so, to stay in the good books, i opted to watch the repeat (tuesdays at 2:30 on the same channel). and boy oh boy OH BOY did i love it!

here's the just of it...the series (based on a novel series by l.j. smith) focuses on a sad, beautiful teenage girl (nina dobrev)that's stuck in a love triangle with two vampire brothers, one (paul wesley)a good hearted deer-sucking, dark haired, green eyed beau, and the other(ian somerhalder of lost fame), far more evil and twisted but equally good looking. there's a quiet town, a host of mysterious events, awkward moments, and teenage love...the kind of entertainment that has given the show DOUBLE the ratings of gossip girl.

aren't these hydrangeas to die for? they're one of my favourite flowers..the way their hue is determined by what's in the soil they grow in amazes me and leaves me in awe of God's brilliant design.

i've been awol these days...and this can only be blamed on my summer vices-namely hayfever, flu, and too much sun. i do apologise! but while i've been away, my mind has been working in overdrive (as i explained it always does)and i promise i have few posts ready!

also, i have been doing a sort of cleansing thing for the past two weeks-you know, making sure i drink enough water, green tea, no caffeine or junk food (the no chocolate part has been incredibly difficult and i must be honest i have caved in a few times...i am only human after all). and the strange thing isas soon as i mention it to someone their immediate reaction is "why are you doing it? to lose weight?if you tell me it's because you're fat i'll slap you!". while really, i am doing it because it's one of the things in this world that i can control, and being healthy, and doing the occassional bit of exercise is GOOD FOR YOU.

with that being said, i am about ready to go for a jog, with baby weights in hand for some toning. let's hope it works!

in the meantime, here's a bit of what you can epxect in the next three days of blogging:

1. nylon magazine's february fashion feature
2. a week of my personal style
3. did someone say broody green eyed, dark haired vampire?
4. to know him, is to love him...and i do...i mean did...i mean i will.
5. i like street style

ray la montagne

listening to hold you in my arms by ray la montange
wondering if it's a good idea to be doing this with the electrical storm brewing?

i have said before that i love music, and one of the artists i adore is ray la montagne. he's an amazing american singer songwriter that i first heard on the late show with david letterman and instantly fell in love with his soulful folk/rock sound and honest lyrics.

my favourite song of his is well, all of his songs...the most popular being trouble, shelter, hold you in my arms, and bittersweet memory. if you do get the chance, do take some time out to google the guy, youtube his music...just make sure you listen, and i mean listen good love. it's the kind of music that you can feel.

thinking about what i love, what i want, and what I NEED to have...in my heart and closet

numero uno: more livemocha language lessons on arabic and italian (so that i don't lose the year of knowledge i have on the language already)
numero due: a pair of dove grey soft sole converse plimsolls
numero tre: perfectly waistlength wavy boho bedhead nicole richie hair (in my natural colour mind)
numero quattro: more more more music
numero cinque: my driver's licence
numero sei: a little bit of loving...just a little bit

most people my age are heading back to university around this time, but i am on a sabbatical and waiting to hear back from an architecture firm, babysitting my two year old nephew, keeping my fingers crossed on opening my very own cupcakery and coffee shoppe by the end of the year, blogging, doing a hundred million things at once as only i know how.

i haven't had much luck in the department of love over the few years i've realised there is such a thing, but perhaps my april trip to cape town (my favourite place) might bring something good...by saying april, yes, i have accepted that i will probably be spending valentines day with my other single girl friends watching valentines day and hoping for similar movie moments. only now that i've accepted it, i am excited and considering a faintly love inspired ensemble in honour of the day.

feeling a little happier after breakfast
considering a run before lunch to shake the gulit of fry-ups at the start of the day

after a full breakfast i felt fueled enough for another post! now, i promised that this blog ould be about everything that i love, and hopefully that you love too! most people know about my cupcake love and just in case you don't...here's my cuppin♥cake story.

i've been running my specialised cupcake business for just shy of two years and am always working hard at finding new flavours to add to cuppin♥cakes' already amazing list of flavours...and yes i do say amazing, i have after all sampled each and every one. my list of flavours range from classic vanilla and chocolate to wild berries and lemon meringue...i promise, there's bound to be a flavour for you. you can pick and choose from classic "luff-me-do's" to "delux", "cocktail", " dessert" as well as season promotions and limited editions.

these are little miss sunshines, a fluffy vanilla cupcake topped with sunshine yellow buttercream frosting and nicoletta colour drops.

just for interest's sake, am currently working on a honey and horlicks cuppin for my winter warmth collection and will report back on it's success.

in peace, love, (and this time) cuppin♥cakes.

house of harlow 1960

listening to this room by fat freddy's drop
planning, dreaming and scheming as always

as you all would probably have guessed by my previous post, i do love and admire nicole richie's ab-fab style. her house of harlow 1960 range was launched back in 2008 as a collabaritive with mouawad and stocked at american boutique kitson. together, they created 50 pieces of costume jewellery to start off the brand that would later comprise of a full clothing line, sunglasses, shoes, bags and everything that embodied and radiated nicole richie's personal style.

although it is yet to grace south african shores, using this as canvas for yourself...i assure you, you cannot go wrong. with gold plated pieces, feathers, fabric, leather and bold coloured enamel inserts, the range oozes femininity and boho appeal. so,adorn yourself with stacked bangles, gold rings and delicate pendant necklaces.

in peace and love.♥.

so, it dawned on me that valentine's day was around the corner when i almos DROWNED in the sea of red hearts at the news agent a little while ago. now, i am a romantic and defnos not of the school who believe that valentine's day is merely a commercial stint, it is honestly my bitterness that makes me dread the day-along with the rest of the borken-hearted-not dread love, dread the DAY.

i embrace romance and love with open arms, well i WOULD embrace it...if it ever showed it's face at my door, or my facebook profile. come, it is 2010 and i am clearly far from tired of using technology with my blogging confessional.

with only a couple of days left for the big day, i encourage love of all sorts.
